Tango Tanimura Whisk

The Tanimura family has produced whisks in Nara for over 500 years. Takayama has been the center of tea whisk manufacturing in Japan for more than 5 centuries. During the Edo period (1603-1867), 13 tea whisk families were granted surnames by the Tokugawa government.

The Tanimuras are one of only three remaining families today. Mr. Tanimura has mastered the secret techniques passed down by his ancestors as the head of the 20th generation.

This style of whisk is Urasenke; one of the 3 main Sado schools in Japan. Use this whisk for your tea ritual or display it as a work of art.
